17/04/2019 – I know

Oh, I know:

Though I walk here alone.

Got a couple of good friends,

They’ll be with me to the end.

Oh, I know:

Though I skip over this dark path,

Been here before.

I’ll make it to the end.

So, I know

It’ll be okay.

Since whatever happens,

My besties will stay ❤

Kinda thought of this when on my way back home from a run. Obviously much lighter in terms of language and stylistic features than the usual ones but am really grateful for those close to me always supporting me, whether they are reading this or not. Love you all, and thanks so much for those following this blog, have loved writing poetry for it so far and will keep doing it 🙂

14/4/19 – The Abyss

This descent into the dark Abyss.

The fog thickens,

The birds cease their songs of joy;

As the sky above is still oh so bright,

My fingers reaching,

Wishing for its touch.

For the touch of a cold breeze,

To hear even a faint whisper,

To smell the red roses,

Anything…

Anything indicating a beating heart.

Anything that reveals life,

A breath,

A shout,

A scream of desperation.

But now there is nothing at all.

Only silence,

As the lifeless fog touches my skin;

Covering every inch,

Penetrating my soul.

My eyes look up,

As the faint light

Disappears.

22/3/19 – Steep Decline

Foreigner to two homes,

An unknown destination.

His mother tongue,

He may as well be an orphan.

Love is there,

Waiting on all sides.

But he possesses this knowledge,

Augmenting his melancholic thoughts.

Melancholy does not do the darkness justice,

As no words can.

Moving down an angle of depression,

Into familiar depths.

His own voice tells him the way out,

Above and below,

But it’s raw.

As it is a truth repeated for eons.

19/3/19 – Not Going So Great

So I say

“Hey, how’s it going?”,

“It’s not going so great.”

And with a mournful gaze he looks at my face.

“I… Can see it coming,

It’s rising up.”

Helplessly he looks down,

And I know he sees the solution.

But then his legs start moving.

“No,

Wait,

That’s not the way.”

But who am I to say?

Then I look up,

And I keep running.

Day

After

Day.

12/3/19 – Spaceman

Caught between sun and sea,

A spaceman moving away from all he knows.

The man is torn between longing for exploration.

And longing for love.

Normally not mutually exclusive,

And love can be felt across the universe,

But still he longs for fulfilment and company.

Upon return,

He will be an alien to his own species.

His head almost touching the sky,

Whilst not in the clouds.

A giant,

Moving across continents with a giant step.

His heart in a broken state,

As he mourns for a future not had.

But,

It’s beautiful.

His expression is not one of sadness,

But a quiet contentment,

As he knows there are universes left to discover,

Along his journey he’ll pick up the others.

Together,

They’ll be immortal.

Time Taken: 9 Minutes

13/3/19 – Sunchaser

The sunchaser,

Eventually is also covered by the night.

But the night is not kind,

And offers no rest.

Again,

During a night so long it may as well be two.

For an eon he waits,

And hopes the night would take him if the sun doesn’t first.

A spasm in his sleep,

A cramp in his legs.

But,

Not long now.

The sun will rise again,

And so I wait.

12/3/19 – Subconscious Refusal

This subconscious refusal,

Stopping an expression of a deep sadness.

Imagine,

You’re happy as can be,

But your mouth may as well be sown shut,

Only muffled sounds hinting at laughter come out.

My voice shakes,

My breathing changes,

Surely a foreshadowing so obvious would mean the tears will come?

But no,

It stops.

This deep feeling,

Being bottled up by my own mind.

A self-destructive act with an unknown origin.

What will it take,

To break down this wall?

Time Taken: 10 minutes

11/3/19 – Overwhelming Goodbye

When the final embrace was had,

And the last goodbye said,

What is left?

Enough love for a hundred peoples,

Causing a heartbreak shattering my oh-so fragile heart.

It tries to be strong,

Oh and it does it so well.

But there are the dark nights,

When there’s nothing left,

And my soul wishes for the pain to end.

Crying out in despair,

But without tears.

Shouting into the wind,

Without a voice.

New foundations will be built,

New hearts will be found.

But the heart longs for the now old foundations and relationships.

The new could not possibly compare,

The mind,

A hopeless pessimist in its self-destructive depression.

Without the others it cannot live on it thinks,

And the pain it would cause to abandon them all?

If it could all just end,

It would be-

No.

Stop.

25/02/19 – Tiring Consciousness

His mask is a transparent nothing.

As the energy to transform it into a convincing disguise,

Is simply too much.

He is just so tired,

An eternal rest would not be enough.

All falling stars would be exhausted before his wish could be granted.

If only time could please wait.

The terrifying thought that he holds the power to grant his wish,

Though he knows once this mortal power is wielded,

There is no return.

No continuation.

Not for him.

Tears for the man would not dry up.

But the Earth keeps moving.

A seed,

A plant,

A tree,

A fire,

And so it goes.

He knows that this day too,

Will pass.

But that eventually the days do stop passing for him.

“Alas,

It won’t be today.”

The man ponders.

Tomorrow is a new day,

And there lies the chance for the best one yet.
